New Fratelli Fresh in the Sydney CBD

Fratelli’s address is 11 Bridge Street, Sydney CBD.  Don’t try to find it without this valuable information.  We had virtually given up hope of ever finding the new Fratelli Fresh but as we fell upon it they were in the throws of putting up signage, so it may now be a little easier.

For a start it is at the George Street end and it is in the basement but with a gorgeous sandstone entrance. I have to say I think it is the best Fratelli Fresh of all. Mainly because it combines the best of the current outlets….grocer/market, bar and restaurant, homewares and more……yes the Pizza and Mozzarella Bar.

I have to say the finishes and particularly the lighting are a standout.

The Aperitivo Bar offers Bellini and Rossini between 5 and 7pm….so enticing and so festive!!.  I couldn’t help but think how popular this will be in the lead up to Christmas.

Hearts and Crafts – Hermes Delight

 couple_kissing

My expectations were understandably high having received the invitation to the Hermes private screening of Hearts and Crafts.  From our arrival at the State Theatre, the perfect venue, to the beautiful French Champagne and canapé there was an air of excitement.

This exquisite film was all about the people that make Hermes (yes the beautiful handbags, scarves and jewellery for which they are most well known) and did truly portray both the passion of the craftsmen and women and their very fine skills. The film was directed by Frederic Laffont and Isabelle Dupay-Chavanat and filmed in a number of the locations where the leather, silk, silver and glass are handcrafted with heartfelt dedication.

Above all else was the films spell binding photography and soundtrack.  You could have heard a pin drop.  I have to say this took promotion to a whole new level.  What a magical occasion!

More Pastries for Potts Point as Bourke Street Bakery Opens

I wasn’t all that excited when I heard about the iconic Bourke Street Bakery opening in Potts Point as we are a little spoilt for choice already, however it does offer an entirely different take on breakfast.  Given its rather subterranean location, well one does walk down into it, it has a great vibe.  Bustling with activity and endless trays of pastries appearing from the kitchen it is a fun space.  What I am attracted to however are the outdoor tables and chairs along Crick Avenue with its majestic Plane Trees.  So cool and inviting on a hot day, just far enough away from Macleay St to be a perfect spot to unwind with a coffee and one of those fabulous pastries.

It is of course perfect timing with the loss of another icon Yellow.

Potts Point Roses

I had the perfect excuse to visit my favourite Potts Pt PoHo florist…Tess’s birthday. http://www.poho.com.au/ a jewel like treasure trove of exotic beauty spills out onto Macleay St and never disappoints.  Whether you are after a small bunch of what ever is in season, a pink_rosessimple bunch of roses or something far more exotic it is very difficult to choose.

I settled on a bunch of very unusual, almost striped hot pink and white spray roses – just perfect for a nineteen year old.  They were adored by the birthday girl and did look gorgeous in the apartment, hence the photo.

Part of my morning shopping in Potts Pt included the chance to take a sneek look at the new La Croix Cafe, Tartine Bar and retail store.  I believe set up by Annie Wilkes of Parterre Garden and the gorgeous interior would suggest as much.  The finishes are very French and very elegant.  I look forward to revisiting and passing on more details.
