It is very exciting to hear Marc Newson is the brains and creative talent behind this years New Years Eve fireworks in Sydney.  It is worth looking at his website to get a glimpse of what he does best. His product design is beautiful!!!  Although he now lives in the UK it is encouraging that he is commissioned for such fabulous projects here.

Christmas Drinks amongst the Luxury at Becker Minty

Such an enjoyable time was had by all at the Becker Minty Christmas Drinks and Shopping Night.  So pleasant to browse at one’s leisure through their exquisite collection of gifts….something for everyone !!! even for those who want for nothing.  As usual the wine…Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon was perfect and the canape delicious.

My favourites were the new Neom Organic Scented Candles, the very English Floris perfume and for complete indulgence the handmade French velvet slippers by Matthew Cookson.  Indeed the Very Best Of Everything.

January is a fabulous time to be in Sydney ….usually the weather has settled, the Festival of Sydney is in full swing and ….we have more time!! Take a day to have a fossick around and gain some inspiration for the new year.

Remember……Plan your route so as not to miss any of the above, take notepad and pen and/or digital device and enjoy stopping for coffee/lunch….. to discuss/jot down what you have seen, must have, will be going back to get, going home to measure up for.

Find the latest coffee shops you have read about, enroute.  I just might have to share a few of my favourites before xmas.! Have fun.

The Country Trader Extravaganza

What fabulous fun was had by all at The Country Trader Extravaganza.  Billed as the Greatest Show on Earth, it was all of that and more.  The Circus theme had everyone in the mood from the minute you arrived…..like entering the big top with all the entertainment that goes with it !!!!

In addition to the ever expanding collection of divine antique pieces….large and small, the massed Christmas decorations were breathtakingly beautiful and hard to resist.

Very festive indeed….not to mention the most beautiful Christmas pudding I have ever tasted (very similar in flavour to the one I make but somehow twice as good when you haven’t slaved over it yourself….or was it the accompanying Moet & Chandon!!!!)

Geoffrey Clark does nothing by halves….ever.

French Style in Bowral combines Home, Garden and Chrismas !!

Courtesy Suzie Anderson,Hopewood Country House

Last weekend I was thrilled to vist another of Suzie Andersons Open Days at Hopewood Country House in Bowral.  She displays her French and Country homewares, soft furnishings and ….gorgeous Chrismas decorations in stunning room displays with such style and exquisite attention to detail.

It was divine to browse endlessly, trying to absorb it all and then enjoy afternoon tea in the glass fronted Pavillion overlooking the garden…. chatting about which pieces I would pop back in to purchase.

I was thrilled to see on her website that she will continue to open on a Thursday until 15 December!!! More chance to shop, particularly for those Christmas presents and the decorations I just can’t resist…and it probably won’t be nearly as busy.

Neutral Palette for 5 Star Hotel Guestroom Patagonia

Wallpaper Magazine Editors Travel Picks – Patagonia, Chile

You may well think I am hooked on the neutral palette given yesterdays fashion post from the Sartorialist.  Those of you who know me also know that neutral is my great love in  life, both fashion and home.  When I do venture into ‘colour’, people comment.  It is very out of character for me.

I do adore this guestroom.  I have spent many years designing hotel guestrooms….most of which do not have this view!!!  I could see this working somewhere like Lake Jindabyne.

It is very sometimes difficult to convince hotel groups – the words are simplicity and elegance and yes !! a neutral palette. Some even still insist on ‘dressing’ the bed…..what could look more divine than this crisp white bedlinen….and hotels have the capacity to have it crisp!!!  I strive for this ….however never achieve this level of crispness.

I will share more of these beautiful hotels with you over the next few days.
